Instructor Xtreme Makeover!

The Instructor Xtreme Makeover Series features five learning modules for instructor continuing education.  Each module is a standalone course that provides instructors critical information to enhance their craft as a fire service educator. 


Program Objectives:


  1. Identify the challenges facing the instructor

  2. Find resources and easier ways to do what seems impossible

  3. Build upon your already established skills as an instructor

  4. Evaluate your ability to write learning objectives

  5. Demonstrate the ability to conduct a training needs assessment

  6. Meet the challenges of training fire service professionals


Chief Reeder began his fire service career in 1979. He currently serves as Battalion Chief / Director of Training & Safety with the Pleasantview Fire Protection District and is the Director of Training for Southwest United Fire Districts. In these capacities, he is responsible for the design, implementation and coordination of in-service training activities as well as a full-service fire training academy program.


Forest is the author of the Weekly Fire Drills feature at www.firefighterclosecalls.com and a weekly contributor to Fire Engineering Magazines on-line drill feature both designed to assist fire departments in training their members.  He was a contributing author and managing editor of Fire Service Instructor, Principles and Practice from Jones & Bartlett Publishing validated and endorsed by the International Society of Fire Service Instructors.


Forest holds numerous Illinois fire service certifications and has an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Fire Science Technology, a Bachelors Degree in Fire Department Administration and a Masters Degree in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University.
